There are plenty of diabetic dog foods on the market now. My suggestion is to ask you vet what they would recommend or do the research yourself….plenty of material on the web.

Simple sugars are what is targeted to be cut out. As far as that goes, you could make the dog food yourself if you dont find anything that makes you comfortable.
There are books and recipes out there for you to do it yourself, which actually maybe healthier for you dog.

    Good Luck.

Hill's sucks first of all. Canidae all life stages meets the needs of many different dogs. Just read their testiminial page. Dogs with skin disease, bowel problems, and other things like that benefited from it.

Hill's w/d is the Science Diet diabetic dog food. Your veterinarian should have the food available for you to buy. You can't get these diets from the pet store because they are prescription diets. Purina and Waltham also make diets for diabetic dogs.
