What is some of the best dog food out there and where do you find out about the ratings of the food?

Also, where do I purchase this dog food? I have an 8 year old greyhound couch potato and a 2 year old rambunctious lab.
The most recommended dog food is lamb and rice. you might want to look at joining some Yahoo dog groups.

I like Eaglepack Power formula for my dogs when they are working, I also use Innova EVO. The lab is very active and the power formula would be good for him too.

Innova EVO is in quite afew stores already, most can order both…

As far as where to buy it, it depends where you live, but you won't find any of the good quality foods in grocery stores.

I use canidae because its one of the best and not expensive.

what country are you in?? China?? Chili?? Canada??
rules of thumb:
1 any food in grocery store or Wal Mart etc.. are crap – loaded with fillers..
2 any foods you see alot of commercials for is crap – they are paying for commercials – not ingredients
3 vets often receive very little or NO education on ingredients or brands – they will promote what ever food pays them to promote it
4 all foods tell you they are the best…
5 better foods dont use fillers – if you become familiar with ingredients you can spot the good foods and the bad ones.
good foods are only sold in pet food supply stores -but not all foods they sell are good – not all expensive foods are good (some like Science Diet is crap but over priced becuase they PAID for vet endorsement)
bad ingredients = corn, wheat, soy, pork, beef, by-products (beaks feet feathers -preserved with nasty chemical pesticide Ethoxyquin).. meat meal (mystery meat) BHT and BHA..
MOST SITES WILL BE SUPPORTING ONE BRAND OR ANOTHER AND ARE NOT HONEST>.
USA – good foods – Wellness, Innova, Canidae
CANADA – (the above are sold in Canada but I recommend) NUTRAM – it exports to European countries who infact have tougher standards for pet food quality- its made in Canada so priced well
with better foods there is less waste – so you feed less and have less poops!!!
both your dogs will require different foods… one is ready for senior diet while the other should be on adult or active dog formula

Canidae is what my dogs eat when they don't eat a prey-model raw diet. Innova Evo is another good food. You can read up about dog food in general by going to http://www.dogfoodproject.com , and see actual ratings of foods at http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com . Good luck!

Others have listed good sites to check out foods and their quality.. Check out the Canidae.. All Life Stages.. We have feed nearly everything out there that is decent.. and it's been the best food by far.. No garbage ingredients, human quality food, no corn, no wheat, no cancer causing preservatives.. Great food and available in most areas.. Check their website, they have a store locator and it'll help you locate it in your area..
The All Life Stages would be good for you because you have a young dog and a senior.. All Life Stages is good for puppies, adults, working dogs and seniors.. no need for different formulas, no need to change.. both dogs can eat the same food.
